Why this recipe works
The Adventure-Q makes it easy to cook golden, crispy waffles without a traditional waffle maker. They cook evenly, are simple to flip and clean-up is as easy as wiping out the pan, making this a great option whether you’re at home or camping.
Kate’s notes:
We love waffles, but waffle makers can be fiddly to use and difficult to clean. Cooking this on the Adventure-Q was incredibly easy. There were no drips or mess, cleanup only took a quick wipe with a cloth, and I could make the waffles any size I wanted. We love serving ours with Greek yoghurt, fresh berries, banana and maple syrup.

Time
Preparation: 10 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1½ cups milk
- 2 eggs
- ⅓ cup melted butter
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- Pinch of salt
- Extra melted butter for greasing the pan
Makes: Approximately 5 large waffles or 7-8 smaller waffles.
Taste test notes
These waffles are light and fluffy with a crispy golden exterior. There’s no added sugar in the batter, allowing the sweetness from your favourite toppings to shine through for the perfect balance of flavour.
Method
- Preheat the Daymo Adventure-Q over medium heat. If using an induction cooktop, heat at 1000, then reduce to 500 for cooking.
- Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs and a pinch of salt.
- Sift the self-raising flour into a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour, mixing until just combined. Do not over-mix.
- Stir through the melted butter.
- Lightly grease the Daymo with melted butter or a high-heat cooking oil.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low so the waffles cook evenly without browning too quickly.
- Pour a portion of batter onto the hot cooking surface.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the underside is golden brown. A gentle nudge should allow the waffle to slide easily, indicating it’s ready to flip.
- Carefully flip and cook for a further 3-5 minutes until both sides are golden and crisp.
- Serve with your favourite toppings.
For larger groups, cooked waffles can be kept warm under the dome lid while you finish the remaining batter. Before serving, simply return the pan to medium-high heat and warm each waffle for around 30 seconds per side.
Enjoy!
Anything the chef would change for next time?
I’d make a double batch and freeze the extras for a quick breakfast another day.
Enjoy!
