Why this recipe works

The Adventure-Q’s gentle steam cooking creates the perfect environment for a silky, creamy cheesecake without needing an oven. Starting from a cold pan allows the mixture to heat gradually, helping it set evenly while reducing the risk of cracks. The result is a smooth, dense dessert with a light tang from the Greek yogurt and lemon, proving the Adventure-Q can do much more than savoury meals.
Kate's notes:
I used a trivet I had for baking bread. A rack that fits in should keep the cake tin out of the water. If you have a ring tin, it is likely to fit over the handle of the Daymo steamer tray.
The pan I use is a perfect sized for both the quantity of ingredients and fits well. The pan measures 22.5 × 22.5 x 5cm deep.
This particular cake recipe typically calls for oven baking, the Daymo Adventure-Q serves as an effective alternative. This opens up some great dessert ideas.
Time
Preparation: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Ingredients

- 2 cups Greek Yogurt, plain
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 cup cornflour
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/3 cup honey
-
750 mls of water for pan
Taste test notes
Steaming Greek yogurt cheese cakes or desserts gives a creamy, dense texture, avoiding common baking issues like cracking, and offers a lighter alternative to traditional recipes.
This cakes is similar to a consistency of sour cream cheese cake.
Method
Place approximately 500ml of water into the base of the Daymo. Position the steamer tray atop the base, arranging vegetables in a single layer whenever feasible. The heatproof dish containing cauliflower bake should also be placed on the steam tray.
- Start from a cold pan so the steam will gently bring the tin and mix slowly to temperature.
- Mix all ingredients until smooth. Can also be blended.
- Pour mix into cake tin
- Fill the Daymo base with water, approx 750mls
- Place trivet into base. Water should be level with top of trivet.
- Place the cake tin on the trivet.
- Use Dome lid and vent closed.
- Turn on the heat source medium low.
- It took about 10 minutes to come to a boil.
- Turn down to a low simmering, leave the vent half open.
- Let simmer for 20 minutes.
- Lift the lid gently to see if it's set. Lift the dome lid directly upwards so any droplets of steam will not fall onto the cake. It should be firm to touch. If not check every 2 to 3 mins until set.
- When set, turn off the heat and let the cake cool under the dome lid with the vent still half open
- Once cool, place in the fridge to chill for at least 2 hrs
- Serve as is or with cream and berries or ice cream.
Enjoy!
