In many of our outback adventures we find cooking amazing meals, especially around sunset, an exhilarating experience as we put the music on, find a cool refreshment, usually wine or beer, and discuss today’s developments and tomorrow’s plans.
We went through all the cooking options, in the early days, with marvellous wood campfires for cooking and heating and all the cast iron accessories from tripods, BBQ plates, Jaffle irons, the old Billies for boiling water and of course that amazing “camp oven” for bread, dampers, roast dinners, casseroles by the dozens. Many an “amazing meal in an amazing location” was enjoyed by all those present.
Pretty soon the Australian made, Gasmate Company introduced us to a highly portable, single burner gas stove which provided us with an instant tool to help with cooking our meals in the outback.
